Cook County Historical Society's History Museum, in the Lightkeeper's House, a building on the National Register of Historic places, preserves and disseminates the county's history. Located in Grand Marais, the museum holds a large collection of artifacts, archives, photographs and oral histories. Cook County saw some of the state's earliest historical activity, but has remained a frontier throughout the years. The Civilian Conservation Corps photograph collection contributed to the Minnesota Digital Library demonstrates the works of the depression-era program in the Cook County region while providing a window into the daily lives and social activities of the young men enrolled in the Corps.
