This guide is used to discuss the production and transportation of hay (specifically) through Minnesota's history, but there were many more resources in Reflections that discuss farming and agriculture throughout the state.

11: Ideas for Lesson Plans Using this Guide (optional)

Talk about these pictures before students go to the Pumpkin Patch and take a hay ride. After students choose their pumpkins, use the guide to discuss how pumpkins were used in the past. Talk about the differences and similarities between the hay pictures and the hay ride experience. List the differences between these pictures and the pictures that are taken at the pumpkin patch.

Talk about other aspects of same and different, such as, clothing, landscape, and the time of year, the people pictured and the types of buildings.
