9: Specific Minnesota Reflections Collection(s) to Consider (optional)
Blue Earth County Historical Society, Minnesota Streetcar Museum, Northeast Minnesota Historical Center |
10: Helpful Tips (optional)
These photos are from specific zoos in Minnesota and do not reflect all zoos in the state. Going to the current websites for the Lake Superior and Como zoos shows the progression from these photos of long ago and how the zoos operate today. The students will enjoy the rich colors and complete information, with maps. Also, Sibley Park is no longer functioning as an enclosed deer park (regional zoo), but rather an animal farm or petting zoo. |
11: Ideas for Lesson Plans Using this Guide (optional)
Before going to the zoo, students can list the animals, facilities and other and details of these photographs. When they return, they can talk about the difference between the zoos now and those of the past. They could discuss what the humane treatment of animals entails. |
